UPDATE: Although this Mini appears on these “Not for Sale” pages, it’s now available for adoption on our “Consignment – For Sale by Owner” pages!
Victor H. of Great Falls, Montana showed up with this nice Mini pickup it at Spring Thing 2008 in Kissimmee, Florida. (He’s in Tampa until the 28th of March, after which it may be viewed in Montana).
This pickup is – and one might not readily realize – actually a converted Mini panel van. One clue that it’s a conversion is that the tailgate slopes forward, just like the rear of the wagons and vans. (A factory pickup has a vertical tailgate).
A big plus is that it’s fitted with Australian doors, which have roll-up windows with “wind wings,” or “quarterlights,” as they are called overseas. (Typically, a Mini with external hinges would have had sliding windows in the doors). Also unique to the external-hinge doors on this truck is that they have lift-up door handles, which, along with later vans, came on only a handful of the last Australian Cooper S’s built before the Clubman GT replaced the Cooper models.
This truck is hard to miss with its Ferrari yellow paint – and it looks even cleaner in person.
Nice job, Victor.
And he has a sense of humor too. Witness the custom black-vinyl graphics in a tire-tread pattern – mimicking the look of being run over by something much bigger…Vehicle Details:
