$1,5001980 Austin Mini
UPDATE: Seller reports that it has GONE, GONE, GONE to a new home!
This 1980 Austin Mini is a project car that has been upgraded to a 1275cc engine, front disc brakes and has a customized, fully-deseamed body that includes molded-in fiberglass wheel arches (flares), a conversion to Mk1 (small oval) taillights and the addition of a sunroof. The interior features a roll bar, sport seats and competition-type seatbelts.
It hasn’t run for several years.
Four new tires are included. According to the seller, the brake pedal is firm, the brakes hold. The clutch engages and releases, the shifter seems to move as it should. There is still coolant in the radiator and the oil is said to look pretty good. The battery won’t hold a charge. No attempt has been made to start it yet.
There is a significant amount of rust in a number of places, particularly the bottoms of the doors and several locations in the front end. (see photos).
The steering is right-hand-drive (RHD), but all Minis come with the holes and mountings to put the steering on either side.
Manual transmission is a 4-speed, 4-synchro model.
