UPDATE: It’s GONE, GONE, GONE to it’s new home!
Not pretty – but it runs and drives. Gets good gas mileage, but I haven’t checked the exact number in a while.
PLEASE NOTE: The asking price includes $1.73 in change in the ashtray!
If you aren’t a mechanic – or have a really cheap one – you might want to pass on this particular Honda. Runs, drives and stops pretty well, but it fails smog checks and I have no time to mess with it. A thorough tuneup would be a great start.
Has the larger, 4-cylinder. 1.8L (112CID) engine w/ 5-speed manual transmission. Light silver blue paint (that is VERY faded and blotchy). Blue cloth upholstery; no rips or tears but could use a really, really good scrubbing to see if it can be cleaned. The carpets are really, really dirty; I don’t think I’ve cleaned those since I’ve owned it. The radio has gone bye-bye, leaving the hole in the dash wide open.
Tires are like new, except for one. Front disc brakes work well; rear brakes work, but could use attention, so the parking brake doesn’t work as well as it should. Has a little bit of a clunk in the steering due to a worn tie rod end, noticeable when you quickly let off the accelerator. (The part is cheap but it takes some effort to replace it). I’ve driven it that way for years and years. Front shocks are for looks only, they haven’t been 100% for a while.
Has air conditioning but I’m pretty sure it doesn’t work, but all four windows still roll up and down so you are fine there. Has cruise control but I’m guessing it no longer works (unless you are parked and set it to zero miles per hour). The power steering works fine. This car has never, ever overheated on me or left me stranded. I put in oil from time to time, and only occasionally wash it. Once I had to change a flat tire.
Transmission and clutch work fine. Shifts great. Car moves in both forward and reverse and cruises at freeway speeds (where I usually used it). Starts easily every time. Has 202k miles, but you would never know it from the sound of the engine. Exhaust system and muffler replaced not long ago. Battery is old but it keeps on going, and going and going.
Has dent in the panel above the left front headlight area that makes it look sorta like it’s winking at you. The rubber bumpers are looking pretty scruffy.
Has trailer hitch fitted. Really. We used it to tow up to a 1500-lb utility trailer, even a tow dolly for small cars and it tows very well, since it has the larger of the 4-cylinder Honda engines, larger, 4-cylinder. the 1.8L (112CID) model. It feels like a V6; I had to check under the hood to make sure there were only four cylinders.
Call for more details and additional pics.
Please note that this car probably looks better in the pictures than in real life, but you’ll have to judge when you see it yourself. We don’t want you to have unrealistic expectations and be all disappointed when you see your “new” car for the first time!
Did we mention the $1.73 in the ash tray?
