Sold1970 Austin Sport Pack Mini
UPDATE: Seller reports it’s GONE, GONE, GONE to its new home!
This Mini is a bit famous, you might say.
It has a familiar “voice,” the one actually heard in the Sony xBox video game “________.” MiniGuy had been contacted by Sony’s sound labs in Seattle where the company’s game developers were looking for an authentic classic Mini for recording sounds for the video game. The current seller – eager to participate – agreed to provide hers. Several hours were spent on the dyno and sound stage, recording not just the engine and shifting sounds, but also sounds such as doors closing and the like.
Also, this was MiniGuy’s personal Mini until it was (reluctantly, several years back) sent to its present home in Seattle.
This really clean Mini is the Tahiti Blue model with light silver roof – the very desirable color combo found on very-late Sport Pack Minis! Has the factory Sport Pack 13″ wheels and the Sport Pack wheel arches (ie: “flares”).
Now sports a retro Mk1 “mustache grille,” the type used on early ’60′s classic Mk1 models – the Minis generally most prized by collectors and Mini enthusiasts, but this one has the “modern” convenience of doors that have rollup windows with internal hinges, (ie: instead of sliding windows and external hinges.) Fitted with quad driving lights. (One shown has missing lens to be replaced shortly.)
Full leather interior in black with silver leather inserts. Factory alloy dash. Right-hand-drive (RHD).
According to the seller, it has zero rust, no evidence of prior collision damage, and appears to be original paint, which is in excellent condition, with the exception of two small areas of chipped clear coat below left mirror and right door handle. A shallow ding in the right rear quarter panel isn’t very visible unless you sight down the side. Right rear alloy wheel has some minor “curb rash.” (see closeups of glitches).
Has 1275cc engine with four-speed, four-synchro “rod shift (ie: stronger, smoother-shifting) transmission. Front disc brakes are the large, better-stopping 8.4″-diameter type and has brake servo (ie: power brake booster).
Runs, drives very well – cruises at 70-80 mph without really breathing hard!
Lady-owned, never thrashed and always maintained by Seattle area Mini specialist, who is also available to do thorough, pre-purchase mechanical evaluations on your behalf.
Clear Washington title and current registration. (Formerly licensed in California, where it was previously located.)
Located in Seattle, WA.
