$2,5001975 Austin Mini
Ideal for Honda VTEC conversion!
This Mini is Mk3 model, so it has doors with roll-up windows and external hinges. A big plus with the Mk3 models is that they have the same body dimensions used up until the end of classic Mini production in late 2000, so pieces and parts from one year can be used on another to create an “old-school” look (ie: using 10″ wheels), all the way up to the more modern “Sport Pack” appearance with 13″ wheels and larger Sport Pack wheel arches).
NOTE: first pic (shown on the wheels) taken before the seller completely disassembled it!
All parts were removed, then neatly bagged, boxed and labeled before beginning restoration of the body shell. All glass is included, as are front seats.
According to the seller, the shell is pretty solid.
It has been partially restored and some body work done. Exterior of body stripped to bare metal, then semi-professionally sprayed in sealer primer after treating any minor surface rust. Engine bay also treated and sealer-primered. Front “wings” (ie: fenders) and front panel not yet stripped, since seller intended to replace with flip-front end, but no sheet-metal cutting has occurred yet.
Front floors and cross-member reportedly solid; rust in rear section of floor was treated, then patched (see pics). According to the seller, boot floor is solid, just has surface rust (see pics, but shows worse than it is). Exterior rust repairs not yet done include a section of cancer in front of the left rear wheel opening (see pics). Doors not yet stripped down, but reportedly aren’t rusty.
No engine, no stock front subframe (since both would be binned in the Honda conversion anyway!) Included in sale is $200 or so worth of painting supplies and primer.
VIN plate shows 1975 build date (see pic); Bill of Sale to be provided.
