1969 Riley Elf - white w/ red interior & 998cc engine
SOLD, SOLD, SOLD, but we have other Elfs and Hornets available! Call or email for details! UPDATE: I now have dozens of close-up digital pics of this nice Elf. Call or drop me an email if you would like to see them! I can also give you an "inch-by-inch" tour of the Elf over the phone, and arrange an independent mechanical evaluation on your behalf! The Riley Elf is based on the Mini, and because it shares the engine and most mechanical parts, parts are readily available. This is one of the best examples we've come across in a long time! This awesome Riley Elf has only traveled 43,900 original miles, and it drives accordingly in that it has very few rattles and is very quiet on the road. Inside the two glove boxes in its factory wood dash, you'll find its original service book and service history. The red vinyl interior is all original and in very good condition; its only (small) faults are that the front carpets are faded and small cracks are showing in varnish on the wood. The body is rust free and was repainted at some point. The condition of the underbody is excellent. Inside the boot you'll find the original jack, lug wrench and bag. The exterior chrome is good and the original (very rare) Riley-emblem hubcaps are there too. Our mechanic has checked the compression in the engine, and reports it's good and that the engine performs very well. On the road, the gearbox is quiet and all syncros are good. The brake system has been fully overhauled. Background: The Riley Elf is essentially the "upscale" version of the Mini, and it was built by the same parent company. When standard Minis came with the 850cc engine, the Elf came with a larger, more-powerful 998cc engine that allows it to easily cruise at freeways speeds. Most Elfs were also fitted with the smoother-riding "hydrolastic" suspension. While standard UK-built Minis typically came with sliding windows and external door hinges, the Elf sported roll-up windows and internal hinges a couple years earlier than the Mini. Along with the Elf's factory-fitted wood dashes, most Elfs - but not all - came with leather interiors. Elfs are very rare in the United States, since they weren't sold new here. It's particularly difficult to find a good one - such as this one - in decent original condition. Call for more details, and dozens of additional close-up pics are available. [ID# DY537] Asking $6,900. Check out the other nice Elf on the Consignment pages of this site. It's located in Pennsylvania. I may have a Wolseley Hornet available too, also on the East Coast. Call for details. SOLD, SOLD, SOLD, but we have other Elfs and Hornets available!
