1960 Austin Mini

Stock: MK1SANANTN
Engine:1071cc
Price: Sold

Mk1 project w/ 1071cc engine - ($3,200!) runs, drives [in San Antonio, TX]

UPDATE: Gone to its new home in Mexico!

This 1960 Mk 1 Austin Mini is upgraded to 1071cc engine.

Runs, drives. Clear Texas title.

Has early 1275cc block that has been decked and fitted w/ 1071cc Cooper S crank (by doing so, it makes displacement 1071cc and results in smoother, higher-revving engine!). Has Weber carb and alloy intake. Supposedly, the engine was rebuilt some time ago and has less than 100 miles on it.

Has left-hand-drive (LHD) steering from the factory, meaning it was probably originally build for U.S. sale.

Interior has custom dash, aftermarket steering wheel and Mk3 front bucket seats. Drum brakes all around. Has a significant amount of rust; see links for closeups.

It's a true Mk1 Mini, which means it has the distinctive small oval taillights, doors with external hinges and sliding windows, and the moustache-type front grille. (The Mk1 models were from 1959 to mid-1967 and are more prized by collectors). It would have originally had the stock (anemic) 850cc engine and the "magic wand," "waggly." or "pudding stirrer" shifter, but this one is upgraded to a larger engine and a traditional "remote" shifter.

The VIN indicates it was one of the earliest Minis built and a factory LHD car, as noted by the "L" in the VIN: AA2S7L - 313[*][*]

Please note that although this Mini runs and drives, we would NOT recommend driving it a long distance - until you can get things sorted out on it, including the untidy wiring, etc. Better to have it transported home and work on it at your leisure. It will need a significant amount of work until it could be to the level of a "daily driver." Please note that if you can't weld and do a significant amount of body work yourself, this may not be the best first Mini for you.

Note: The most recent shots show it recently sprayed with (rattle-can) gray primer over part of the exterior. The other pics (see 2nd link) show it as a gold-ish color.
