1964 Austin Moke

Stock: SHORTYMOKE
Color: Rusty white
Price: Sold

( $3k! ) genuine UK-built Moke - but a Shorty now! [near San Diego]

UPDATE: Seller reports it's GONE, GONE, GONE to its new home!

UPDATE: Seller found another car he can't live without! So - this week only - it's a steal at $3k! We don't expect this one to be available for more than a few days!

Just posted! More pics maybe soon.

NOTE: If you don't have a sense of humor and an ability to visualize a rebirth of a genuine classic Moke, albeit an oddly shortened one, then keep on moving along. There's nothing for you to see here...

Sure, it's a project Moke, but it runs, drives and will still put a huge grin on your face - and on everyone who sees it - when you're motoring down the road!

Like all UK-built Mokes, it has an 850cc engine, but this one's upgraded with twin SU carbs. Rollbar added; perhaps to give an impression of safety? Transmission works, but it's a long ways from new. Brakes work fine, given the primitive technology of the day...

Factory left-hand-drive (LHD). Stock front Moke seats, rears are long gone.

Since it's been shortened a bunch, there's no room for the rear seats anyway.

It currently has great ventilation - the windshield glass is missing, but frame is good and new windshield rubber seals are included. (Windshields are available, but a good glass shop can cut you a laminated one for $150 or so).

Will come with stock 10" steels wheels (ie: with the little hubcaps) and near-new Kumho tires, not with the Cosmic alloys shown in the pics. Sorry...

Looks rusty, but it's mostly the surface rust in the paint that you're seeing. The floors and body are reportedly solid, it's the battery box that needs urgent help - a bit of battery acid, some water, then a bad fiberglass patch job have done it in. (New battery box patch panels are available, we're told, but need to confirm that).

Missing are the side pod hatch covers, but we're told you can still find them. Speedo is dead, which generally happens when the glass and needle are missing. Uses conventional Mini speedo, so there's no problem finding used replacements.

New lenses in back, and the lights work too. Not shown are the headlight rings and assemblies, but they work and are included. Original top bows are long gone, not that that matters. No canvas top at all, nothing between you and the sunshine!

Did we mention it runs well, drives well?

Current California registration and title.

[ ID# SHORTYMOKE ] Asking price is $4k - take it or leave it.

Actually, the seller is reluctant to let it go. Just offering it to maybe thin the herd a bit - and try to keep the wife happy...

Will consider trade for weekend use of late-model Ferrari, no questions asked!
